Milestone - Mark Wilkinson Solo CD
'Milestone' is my first solo cd which celebrates 21 years as Principal Cornet with Foden's. The cd comprises new commissions, previously unrecorded material as well as some well known traditional cornet repertoire.
'Song' by Dr Meechan
'Song' is the middle movement from the 'Milestone' Cornet Concerto Speaking about the movement Dr Meechan says' Song features a simple chord sequence, over which the soloists 'sings' a melody, each time varying and each time becoming more expressive, leading to an emotional climax.'

'Milestone' was Composed by Dr Meechan. Speaking about the Concerto Dr Meechan says ' Milestone is in three movements, the work is intended to not only demonstrate the soloist's virtuostic skills, but also their ability to communicate to the audience.'
Fujiko
'Fujiko' was composed by Andy Scott who is the composer in residence at Foden's. Speaking about the piece Andy says 'Fujiko is a reflective and melancholy piece with a distinctive Japenese sound scape. It was originally scored for clarinet choir.' The piece was arranged for me to record on Andy's cd 'A World Within' and due to its popularity on the concert stage I decided to feature it on my cd.Read More about Fujjiko Here

Resplendence
An exciting new solo, commissioned by cornet virtuoso Mark Wilkinson, and composed by Lucy Pankhurst. The piece is being featured on Mark's new CD, released on 4th May 2013, and whilst the original is an appropriately challenging work to fully display Mark's versatility and technical prowess, an alternative solo part is also included which offers a more comfortable range for performance. It features a strong driving rock beat and uses some great optional effects (including an echo cornet), to produce an extremely refreshing new addition to the advanced cornet soloist's repertoire.
